TIM LEWIS ANNOUNCES FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE

RIO RANCHO HOUSE DISTRICT 60

Lewis, a Business Teacher, to focus on Economy, Jobs, and Education

Rio Rancho resident and Cibola High School business teacher Tim Lewis today announced his intent to enter the race for the New Mexico Legislature as the State Representative from District 60 in Sandoval County, which includes most of the city of Rio Rancho.Tim LewisExplaining his reason for seeking elective office for the first time, Lewis stated: “When it comes to improving lives, I’ve learned through the years that government can often do more harm than good, especially when the judgments of elected officials are guided by political expediency rather than simple common sense. I want to bring common sense leadership to the legislature and stop the short-sighted decision-making that’s impeding our prosperity and jeopardizing our children’s future. With the right leadership in Santa Fe, we can turn things around. This is why I’m running for State Representative.”

As a New Mexico High School Teacher with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), Tim understands the challenges of improving schools and business in New Mexico. He is committed to using his classroom experience and economic expertise to make sure our students are receiving the best possible education and preparation for the workforce.

Lewis, 47, and his wife Jenn are raising their family of four boys: Nathanael age 6, Ryan age 4, and twins Jacob and Matthew age 2.

Lewis explained the connection he sees between his teaching experience and his desire to serve as a legislator: “I’ve been passionate about helping individuals improve their lives. This is why I became a teacher: to educate students on sound economics and business, and to encourage public service. I’ve been promoting common sense, fiscally conservative principles my entire life and I’m ready to take this fight to Santa Fe.”

Tim is also concerned about the many New Mexico citizens

who are suffering from kidney and other organ disease and diabetes, and will work to promote health and wellness for all New Mexicans. As a kidney transplant beneficiary himself, Tim is a member of the National Kidney Foundation and of “Team New Mexico,” and will represent our State by participating in the 2010 U.S. Transplant Games in Madison, Wisconsin in late July. The Games are the only national athletic competition for recipients of all life-saving organ transplants, as well as the largest gathering of transplant recipients and donor families in the world.

Lewis was born in Napa, California, and received his Master’s Degree and Bachelor of Science from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix. Lewis is also a certified New Mexico athletic coach and has coached both High School baseball and his boy’s Little League Teams.

Tim expects to serve with an open-door “I work for you” policy, and is taking his message door-to-door, expecting to visit over 5,000 Rio Rancho homes over the months leading up to the November election.

A large and growing group of volunteers have committed to help spread Tim’s message of fiscal discipline, ethical service, and common sense leadership. Tim encourages those interested in finding out more about him and his campaign to contact him directly at 702-7093 or email him at LewisForNM@gmail.com.
